Never Overload

Last week, it appears as a little bit messy for me.

Finally I have come to almost the ending of proximate analysis (moisture, protein, fat, fiber and ash) which is basically the reason why I am here in this Chinese New Year break.

My Final Year Project is basically on finding out all the composition content in the raw material provided, which is particularly the one I am learning throughout my two courses in the second year: Chemical Analysis and Instrumental Analysis. Fun yet challenging in order to understand the concept and do it accurately. It also takes some time to do the analysis. However, it is among the popular analysis is as it consider as basics to our food technology course. I cannot skip this part due to I need to find out all the composition, as much as I am able to finish it within the time frame.

Doing the laboratory work slow and steady, as the timing is seems to be okay for me, but suddenly the one-month semester break had come to the end. Although it is still within the estimated range, it got a little bit delayed. This is a small matter.

What is unexpected is that I failed to finished the proximate analysis due to the limited space. (when time goes by, people a.k.a coursemates start turning back to laboratory for their FYP as well. So, the competition start again.) What make it worst is the laboratory is undergone renovation part by part, that is what makes me slow down again.

However, finish or not, I need to continue with other part of my FYP, the antioxidant analysis, which includes the three types of analysis, the antioxidant, phenolic and flavonoid contents. This is a bit new to me, I learn the basic method on UV-Visible Spectrophotometer. But I am  now learning a new instrument as well as the extraction method.

What comes out to be a mess is the extraction part, in short, I got four sample, make each one a triplicates I have got twelve, for the last steps also, I takes two days to finish them. It made me start my extraction on 12 am counting down the double valentine in year 2014, a sleepless night and yet got to stay awake for the proximate analysis.

After the one day crazy stayed up, I have done a few silly mistakes in laboratory, so until then I just got to slow down and rest enough before continue. Now the crazy extraction part is done, after overtime for this three days in the laboratory. Next, praying hard for the laboratory work on the analysis is smooth, I can't afford to repeat them again. =,=''

And both of us who is rushing for the lab work is falling sick now. I am just a little of sore throat and maybe due to the hot weather as well. Bought a new bottle for the preparation of OT, 1.6 L ain't enough for daily consumption but that is the limit I can bring it.

Perhaps everything going smooth and I should take a day break before continue to the next one.
Never overload yourself again. Time limit is always there, but you got to stay strong in order to keep fighting, that is the most important one. Hope also for a heavy rain coming, the hot weather and the mosquito are driving me crazy each night.
